iFLYTEK Translation Partnership Signing Ceremony for Less Widely Spoken Languages

Breaking Down Language Barriers in the Lancang-Mekong Region with AI

Since its founding in 2024, the South and Southeast Asian Media Network has remained committed to its mission of building a platform for exchange and strengthening people-to-people connectivity. Its member organizations have continued to deepen cooperation in information sharing, staff exchanges, and content co-creation. Over the past three years, the Network has fostered a new model of regional cooperation that is professional, regular, and systematic.

At the event, five creator groups and 23 annual cooperation projects were unveiled. Powering International Conferences Every Step of the Way

At the opening ceremony of this year's South and Southeast Asian Media Network Annual Meeting and the parallel dialogue session of Dianchi Talk Beyond Coffee, iFLYTEK SPARK Trans provided real-time multilingual translation, transcription, and on-screen display for speeches delivered by guests from various countries.

iFLYTEK SPARK Trans has been widely used in international conferences and cross-border communication scenarios. To date, it has supported more than 420,000 conferences and events in over 50 countries and regions worldwide, reaching audiences of more than 400 million. For international conferences that bring together media outlets, news organizations, and industry representatives from multiple countries, iFLYTEK SPARK Trans does more than meet cross-language communication needs. It enables information conveyed in different languages to be delivered accurately and simultaneously in the same venue, reducing delays and misunderstandings caused by language conversion. It also helps participants follow discussions and grasp key points in real time, while making it easier for journalists to take notes, verify information, and prepare follow-up reports. In this way, it helps keep conference agendas running smoothly and makes international dialogue more coherent and efficient.

Deepening Presence in Yunnan, Expanding Reach Across the Lancang-Mekong Region

Channeling the Flow of "AI Living Water" to Shape a New Future for Regional Development

In the afternoon, the Dianchi Talk Beyond Coffee parallel dialogue at this year's annual meeting was held under the theme "Lancang-Mekong Futures: A World of Possibilities." Xiang Chenxin, Director of Regional Development for iFLYTEK in Yunnan, delivered a keynote presentation titled "AI as a Catalyst: Bringing Lancang-Mekong Communities Closer Through Technological Innovation." He vividly explained how artificial intelligence, like an ever-flowing stream of "living water," continues to inject momentum into innovation-driven development across the Lancang-Mekong region through ongoing technological iteration and wide-ranging real-world applications.

Xiang Chenxin said that iFLYTEK has long been committed to advancing development in the Lancang-Mekong region with trustworthy AI technologies at its core. Since March 2019, iFLYTEK has continued to deepen its presence in Yunnan, establishing a province-wide "Four Ones" strategic layout centered on iFLYTEK's South and Southeast Asia Headquarters and supported by the coordinated development of the Multilingual Technology Research Institute, the iFLYTEK AI Industrial Acceleration Center, and the AI Talent Training Center. This layout has enabled large-scale applications in key areas such as education, healthcare, smart cities, and research on less widely spoken languages, continuously injecting fresh momentum into the region's digital economy and AI industry.

With a focus on Southeast Asia, iFLYTEK's Multilingual Technology Research Institute has completed comprehensive R&D for eight languages, including Thai, Vietnamese, and Malay, achieving substantive breakthroughs in speech synthesis, speech recognition, text translation, and other areas. In 2025, iFLYTEK officially released the iFLYTEK SPARK ASEAN Multilingual LLM (Large Language Model) Base, which supports capabilities such as language understanding, machine translation, knowledge-based Q&A, text generation, mathematical reasoning, and commonsense reasoning, achieving internationally leading performance with fewer parameters. In 2026, iFLYTEK and Indonesia's Sinar Mas Group established a strategic partnership focusing on education, healthcare, telecommunications, finance, energy, and other industries. Through a model combining "technology export + local ecosystem collaboration," the two sides will integrate full-stack AI technologies with extensive experience in implementing major projects, jointly setting a benchmark for China-Indonesia technology cooperation and supporting the high-quality development of public service systems across Southeast Asia.

Looking ahead, iFLYTEK will continue to deepen its R&D in multilingual AI technologies for South and Southeast Asia and accelerate the cross-border deployment of AI products and solutions. By leveraging intelligent technologies to build bridges for communication, the company will continue to contribute its expertise and capabilities to enhanced connectivity and shared prosperity among Lancang-Mekong countries.
