High School Advances Students’ Career Opportunities Using Advanced System

The High School attached to Zhejiang University prides itself on guiding students in course selection. To this end, it has set up a staff team for career development planning. The university has built a seven-pronged model featuring a career mentor system, public career courses, career orientation, career forum, career experience, career consultation, and evaluation & follow-up.

"It is our priority to ensure that every student has the right to choose. But do they have the ability to choose? This is where education and training come in." President Shen Tu always regards student development as the goal of education.

Li Ling, a teacher from the school, is engaged in career planning and teaching, and assists students in understanding themselves and their aspirations. "What do I like? What do I believe in? What am I good at? Students need to have a comprehensive and rational understanding of themselves before thinking about their future career."

With a basic understanding of their courses and a blueprint for the future, students can independently evaluate their professional interests and subject potential through the career guidance system of iFLYTEK. Director Zhang Wenbo showed a report on the personal subject potential test, which includes three dimensions: subject recommendation, subject diagnosis, and thinking diagnosis. “Every student can log on to the platform and conduct evaluations themselves. The Beijing Normal University develops the platform with technical support provided by iFLYTEK."

Meanwhile, the School is trying to develop courses on subject selection guidance and subject-based evaluation tools. In 2022, at the request of the National Academy of Education Administration, the School recorded classes of ten subjects. In addition, it has independently compiled the Course Selection Manual for Students of the High School Attached to Zhejiang University and published the New College Entrance Examination Guide: Subject Evaluation Tool and the New College Entrance Examination Guide: How to Choose the Right Major & University, etc., to provide science-based guidance for students in choosing subjects.
