Go Beyond Age or Impairment and Live a Better Life with AI Tools
If you were to plan for your life after age 60, what would you do? We posed this question to Ms. Tu, a 60-year-old hardcore fan of iFLYTEK. Her answer was to cultivate her interests, enrich her retirement experience, and explore new areas she has yet to venture into.
Ms Tu is a senior citizen with the highest degree of hearing loss. However, she is more than passionate about public welfare, traveling, and literary creation.
What makes Ms Tu’s retirement life different?

1. AI is much “smarter” than kids
Following her retirement, Ms Tu has dedicated herself to serving the hearing-impaired community as the Deputy Secretary-General of the China Association of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. As part of her community service, Ms Tu frequently undertakes writing-related tasks, such as compiling articles about meetings and events. These articles are then published on various platforms, including the WeChat Official Account.
Ms. Tu discovered that the younger generation is interested in AI and is skilled at conversing, painting, and writing with AI tools. Notably, iFLYTEK has developed a product known as iflywriter, which facilitates creative writing. Engaging in a conversation with AI allows you to find writing inspiration.
This novel and intriguing experience has captured the attention of Ms Tu. She decided to try iFLYTEK Writing and give it a shot.
Initially, Ms. Tu found this tool unfamiliar and challenging to navigate. However, with the encouragement of her daughter, she followed the instructions and tried again and again, just like playing a game. Things went more smoothly day by day.
Users can get personalized AI-generated content on demand by selecting a template and entering a simple instruction. The efficiency and convenience of iFLYTEK Writing have impressed her. "AI is much smarter than children. It can do things exactly the way you want!” said Ms Tu.
Nowadays, iFLYTEK Writing has become an essential tool for Ms Tu. It functions as an inspired pen, enabling her to write news releases faster and more accurately and increasing editing efficiency by 70%.
2. Seniors can follow the trend of AI as well
As an extroverted and positive person, Ms Tu is open to new ideas. She always has her mobile phone with her, not due to any kind of nomophobia, but for her communication assistant, “Xiao Ting.”
Ms. Tu uses iFLYREC on her phone to communicate with others
“Xiao Ting” is the nickname she gives to iFLYREC, which has become her daily necessity for communication. This app provides free real-time speech-to-text services for hearing-impaired users like Ms. Tu so that they can communicate with the world more directly and efficiently.
For Ms. Tu, iFLYREC has become her new “ears,” enabling her to better “listen” to the world around her. However, listening alone is not enough. She has also taken the initiative to go on a new “stage” in her life.
During the AIGC Writing Forum of the iFLYTEK Global 1024 Developer Festival this year, Ms Tu delivered a speech on her experience with iFLYTEK Writing, highlighting how she made her life better by embracing technology. Her inspiring story was met with resounding applause from the audience.
Ms Tu’s story demonstrates to a wider audience that being “fashionable” is not a privilege of the youth. The elderly and the hearing-impaired can also utilize AI tools to live a more comfortable and fulfilling life.
Ms. Tu’s message to all those with hearing impairment: “No matter how daunting the challenge is, with enough courage and the help of technology, we can surmount the difficulties and lead a fulfilling life even in a silent world!”
We also aspire for technology to serve as an additional pair of “eyes” and “hands” for individuals with disabilities, making life easier for more people like Ms Tu. In this way, they can better pursue their passion and discover new possibilities in life.
