During the two-day event, attendees released keynote reports and engaged in roundtable discussions on trending subjects such as technology advancement, business potential, key components, and industry chain layout of the humanoid robot ecosystem, as well as artificial intelligence and embodied AI. iFLYTEK’s Chief Scientist, Dr. Ji Chao, participated as an expert panelist in the roundtable, “Embodied AI: the Future of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics”. He outlined iFLYTEK’s “2030 Super Brain Plan”, emphasising the company’s dedication to advancing robotic perception, cognitive decision-making, and motor control. “We aim to enhance robots’ perceptual interactive decision-making abilities, empowering every family with knowledgeable, adaptable, and responsive AI-equipped robots”, Dr. Ji Chao stated.

“Multimodal embodied perception and decision-making are essential for the next generation of intelligent robots. Breakthroughs in large language models are fueling unprecedented advancements in embodied AI. With these capabilities, robots can adapt to countless scenarios based on their form and the task dataset they’re given. Naturally, the success of these applications relies on safe and controllable large models. iFLYTEK is actively developing multimodal embodied intelligent models to enhance robots’ understanding of the real world, while its Super Brain platform will empower the entire robotics ecosystem”, commented Ji.

Embodied artificial intelligence is making the leap from theory to real-world application with the rise of the newest generation of AI technology. This new generation of AI excels at higher-level reasoning and seamlessly interacts with humans in our shared physical space. The real world is a rich tapestry of information (including image, text, voice, and video) for machines to process, and human interaction is multimodal. Therefore, understanding and responding to these “multimodal” stimuli are crucial for robots to successfully integrate into our homes. Imagine a robot that can interpret your tired voice and the context of “Pick-me-up drink” to fetch you a beverage. That’s the power of embodied AI.

After parsing the command and breaking it down to concrete steps, robots will have to identify the objects within their sights and determine which item to fetch.

Debuting on May 6, 2023, Spark Desk showcased its initial multimodal capabilities. Since then, it has undergone rapid development, culminating in a groundbreaking multimodal breakthrough announced on August 15. On October 24, the model further demonstrated its advanced ability to follow complex instructions and deliver detailed expressions. This marked the industry’s first successful implementation of multimodal capabilities on a humanoid robot.

Harnessing the power of Spark Desk, iFLYTEK’s Super Brain Platform has unveiled a revolutionary multimodal human-machine interactive system. This system leverages end-point multimodal interaction and large model-based comprehension for decision-making, offering breakthrough solutions for listening, speaking, understanding, and problem-solving, even in noisy environments. It signifies iFLYTEK’s leadership in multimodal algorithms. This system grants robots multifaceted perception beyond basic language processing and further transforms their capabilities. Integrated into digital kiosks and service robots across industries, iFLYTEK’s multimodal interactive system holds immense promise for revolutionising smart homes, intelligent retail, and education.
