As a professional speech research center, we address the following aspects of the speech problem:


Corpus-Based Chinese text-to-speech technology
Multilingual Text-to-Speech technology (Chinese-English, English, Cantonese, etc)
Small size Chinese text-to-speech technology
Embedded automatic speech recognition
Speech synthesis based on speech model (LMA model and sine model)

Current Collaborations



On speech technologies research, we are not alone. We have established three associate labs with the most famous institutes that deal with speech technologies in China.



University of Science and Technology of China (USTC)


The University of Science and Technology of China is one of the top universities in China for its academic research in science and technology. USTC iFLYTEK Speech Lab was co-founded by USTC and iFLYTEK and is dedicated to the research and development of computer intelligent interfaces and multi-media information technologies. The lab has carried out more than 10 national projects. Their research areas include:

Chinese/multi-language continuous speech synthesis
Chinese text analysis and language model
Multi-language mixed text analysis and processing methods
Key word speech recognition
Speech encoding/conversion
Embedded speech synthesis/recognition
Human-machine dialog systems





Institute of Acoustics, Chinese Academy of Science



The Institute of Acoustics, Chinese Academy of Science, is the only national institute in acoustics in China and has the most profound competence in acoustic signal analysis. The research areas of the iFLYTEK speech lab include:

Light continuous Chinese speech synthesis
Construction of text-to-speech databases




Institute of Language, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences



The Institute of Language, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, is leading the world in Chinese prosody research and language signal analysis. The iFLYTEK speech lab is focusing on the following projects:

Chinese prosody model and analysis
Speech segment analysis of Chinese
Natural spoken language dialog research
Construction of basic speech corpuses
Constitution of speech markup specifications
